About Tuffy
Tuffy was surrendered simply because his previous family hadn't neutered him—an absurd reason for a dog to lose his home. This big, apricot and cream pit mix was overwhelmed by the shelter chaos and nearly lost his life before a caring foster stepped in. Tuffy is about five years old and built sturdy at roughly 50 pounds, with a short coat and a very expressive face, known for a comical "protest face" that will get you laughing every time. He’s already neutered, house trained, and crate trained, and he’s solid on basic commands like “sit,” “crate,” and “out.” Tuffy loves rope toys, car rides, and especially cuddling on the couch—he’ll curl up right alongside you or snooze with the kids. His energy suits an active person who’s around during the day; multiple walks are a must, and he’ll thrive if he gets to stretch his legs. Tuffy lives with teens (10 and 14) and another dog, doing well with both given space and proper intros. He gets along with kids over ten, warms up to new people with gentle introductions, and is all about gentle treats and eager learning. He’s a sweetheart who just wants to be close to his people. Tuffy pulls a bit at first on leash but settles quickly, and he’s working on slowing his eating. He’d make a great family addition for anyone willing to keep him active, included, and loved.
