About Rocky Aka Giddy Up

Rocky, who was known as Giddy Up at the shelter, started his journey as a stray in NYC before landing at the Animal Care Centers in Queens. Initially easygoing and sweet during intake, the stress of the shelter took a toll on him. Just as his time was running out, he was rescued and given a second chance. Now he's shown everyone what a fantastic companion he can be. At around five years old with the quirks of a much younger dog, Rocky has the energy to play but also loves to settle in for some down time. His short legs and long body give him a knack for counter surfing, so food left out anywhere is fair game—he's a food critic at heart. Rocky is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations. He gets along incredibly well with kids, strangers, and other dogs, enjoying the company of anyone who visits. He does chase cats at times but doesn't seem to have a prey drive, often losing interest quickly if swatted at. Rocky is fully housetrained, uses a crate comfortably during the workday or at night, and communicates when he needs to go outside. Leash work is in progress—he’s strong and tends to pull, so a gentle leader helps there. He loves frozen bones and enjoys relaxing near his people, offering steady companionship and plenty of affection. This loving dog is ready to become a loyal family member and would really enjoy a canine sibling. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
