About Ryder

Ryder had a rough start, surrendered to a city shelter when his family decided he no longer fit into their plans. He nearly didn’t make it out, but a caring foster stepped up in time. In his foster home, Ryder proved himself to be a gem. He’s around four years old and tips the scales at close to 100 pounds – a big American Staffordshire Terrier mix with lots of energy and heart. He loves getting outdoors for walks or playing in the yard, and he’s always game for a round of fetch with his favorite ball or chewing on sturdy toys. Hikes and runs are right up his alley. Ryder is house trained, crate trained, and does well on leash. He quickly picks up commands and learns routines, including ringing bells to ask to go outside. He’s generally quiet and very well-behaved, content to settle in his crate after playtime. Ryder gets along well with other dogs and strangers but hasn’t been tested with kids or cats. He’d make a devoted adventure buddy for an active person or family ready to give him a real shot at a permanent home. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
