About Captain Jack Russell

Captain Jack Russell had a tough start. Born on a farm where he and his brothers ran wild, he barely knew any comfort from people until rescue. After arriving at the shelter, he kept his distance at first—genuinely scared, even freezing with fear the first time anyone tried to pick him up. Patience and gentle space helped: he watched, learned, and gradually started joining in, showing a spark no one could miss. Despite being the last to trust, he was the first to get curious. Now, Captain Jack is a source of laughs, with a quirky way of bouncing off legs and playing ‘catch me if you can’ for treats. He still prefers his routine and will need time with a new family to settle, but once trust is built, he’s all in—playful, spirited, still gentle. A fully fenced yard (not invisible) is a must for Captain Jack; it’s about his safety, not just preference. He isn’t completely house broken, but has had no accidents indoors—mostly because he spends lots of time outside. He gets along with other dogs and brings a lively Jack Russell and Heeler energy: happy, fun, a little independent, but always ready to play. Loving patience will go a long way with this guy.
