About Shade

Click apply to start the adoption process. Shade is a 5-year-old pit bull terrier/mixed breed with a heart as big as his smile, ready to become your loyal companion. He thrives on human affection and loves nothing more than car rides, a cool spot in the AC, and spending quality time with his people. Shade’s transformation has been inspiring—he is truly one of the most improved dogs at the rescue and is known for his sweet temperament around children of all ages. He currently lives in a foster home filled with young kids, even a baby, and demonstrates remarkable patience and gentleness, including sharing treats and toys with the little ones and letting the baby play near his water and food without any fuss. Shade shares his home with other dogs and a cat; he may be selective with some animals but warms up well with proper introductions. Once comfortable, he enjoys playtime and sharing toys. Shade is fully house trained, kennel trained, and knows all his basic commands—plus a few bonus tricks! He’s quick to listen to cues like sit, down, heel, place, stay, come, no bark, wait, release, and will happily go to bed or kennel when asked. While he can become reactive and barky when stimulated on walks or during car rides, he’s not aggressive and just needs consistent redirection. Shade is not fond of nail trims and typically needs sedation for them, but this is a manageable quirk that could improve with continued positive reinforcement. As a bonus, Shade has received professional training and comes with three free follow-up sessions at Modified K9 in Spokane, WA for his adopter. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
