About Cheerio

Cheerio survived a lot—rescued from difficult circumstances, he was one of nearly 30 dogs brought out of a tough, neglectful environment. When he arrived, he carried scars and was underweight from life on a chain, but he's since put on both pounds and spirit. Cheerio is selective about other dogs, so the shelter recommends several introductions to see if they’ll get along. He works hard with his trainer and responds well to structure and guidance. Cheerio acts wary of new people, but give him some treats and time, and you’ll see his loyal side. He’s full of potential and has never known a real home, waiting patiently for someone committed. Protective of his circle, he enjoys tug-of-war, adventures, and friendship. He would not be a fit for homes with cats or children, but could work with the right dog given a careful introduction. Cheerio's been waiting over a year and a half for a match. If you’re ready for a devoted companion up for the journey, Cheerio is more than ready for you. He’s neutered, up to date on vaccines, house trained, and lives at the Polk County Humane Society in Bolivar, MO. He’s a Virgo, and staying true to his star sign, Cheerio’s analytical and loyal — always thinking things through before letting someone in. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
