About Sandy

This could be the start of something paw-some. Sandy is a spirited and happy adult Rhodesian Ridgeback/mixed breed dog hoping to find his forever family. Having spent nearly a year in foster care, Sandy showed that he gets along well with other medium- and large-sized dogs and is housebroken. He is active, playful, and thrives with training and structure. Sandy enjoys toys, loves to run, and is smart, alert, and eager to please—making him a great fit for an active household ready to keep both his mind and body engaged. Shelter volunteers consistently praise Sandy's calm walking manners, affectionate nature, and composure—he doesn’t pull or jump and is a pleasure on outings. Though he welcomes canine friends his own size or bigger, Sandy has a strong prey drive, so a home without cats or small animals is essential. When left home alone, Sandy is well-behaved and typically naps, but he does require ample enrichment and crate training to keep stress at bay. Due to an old fracture, lifelong joint supplements are recommended to keep him comfortable. Sandy is available through Pima Animal Care Center for both adoption and foster care. To meet him, you must visit the shelter for a counselor introduction to ensure it's the right match. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
