This 70lb sweetie pie was supposed to be out for just a 10-day shelter break, but she has a way of capturing hearts and stayed an extra week. She’s immediately warmed up to everyone she’s some in contact with, including children as young as 5. This is why she’s become known as Flirty Gertie in our household. She’s not a jumper, but she’s a little goofy and clumsy, which is part of her likeability, but anyone unsteady on their feet should be cautious. Her trust falls are a total hoot! Crate trained, housebroken, newly doggy door trained, rarely barks (except at the tv. She does well with a cuddle to soothe her fear of that mystery box when it’s on), loves to love and be loved by everyone, enjoys basking in the sun, takes meds beautifully, eats well, not afraid of the vacuum or high energy kids, has done well with two other rescues (both male, one of whom is a dog selective senior). She’s shown zero resource guarding or prey drive, including ignoring a rat snake and a bearded dragon. Despite her hip dysplasia, she gets around pretty well. She is nearing the end of treatment for bronchitis and doesn’t seem to have any additional symptoms. I love this girl. She’s a slightly dopey, SO sweet, cuddle muffin. She truly LOVES people.
