About Coda

Coda is a sweet but undersocialized young dog (really a puppy at just about a year old) who desperately needs to leave the shelter so he can thrive. He’s understandably overwhelmed in the shelter but has started to open up and show his affectionate and loving side during quiet moments outside of his kennel. Here’s what some of his volunteer advocates have said: “Coda walked to the park with minimal issues. He was nervous to start, but quickly settled and walked pretty well, with occasional brief pauses. We had two sitdowns: at each he allowed me to scoot closer to pet and scratch him, while he closed his eyes and appeared to relax. He didn’t seek affection but at one point was thinking about it. We had a nearly normal walk back, and though he became a little nervous again at the shelter, with a little more work he will be fine.” “I worked with Coda again today. He sought affection immediately in the kennel, leashed easily and exited his kennel promptly. In the park he approached with a little encouragement and sought affection, then asked for more gently with his paw when I stopped. After that we had a normal loose leash walk around the big lake with another sitdown where he sought affection immediately. He checked in frequently during the walk, in a positive way. I think he will do well in a home, where it is quieter, and he is improving at the shelter.” Coda is looking for a quiet home and a patient family who will give him time and support to adjust. He’s been tolerant and independent when meeting other dogs in playgroup. If you have a soft spot for a shy pup, please ask to meet Coda today!!
