About Starla
Starlaās story is the kind that sticks with you. She was abandoned in an outdoor pen up in the Virginia mountainsāno food, water, or even a roof overhead, just left behind while her family moved on. Thankfully, a neighbor stepped in to keep her alive. When rescued, Starla carried a huge mammary tumor, likely from years of backyard breeding. She had surgery shortly after arriving in March, and while the tumor looked scary, pathology was hopefulāit hadn't spread. Sheās also Lyme positive, but handles her daily doxycycline without complaint. Now, Starla just wants to be close to people. She craves company and warmth more than anything. Sheās shown friendly interest with other dogs so far, and doesn't react to cats. Sheās compact, muscular, and her coat is a striking blend of white, cream, and black. At about five and a half, Starla is eager to start a peaceful chapter with someone who wonāt let her down again. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
