About Blaine
Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now! Blaine is a three-year-old, medium-sized mixed German Shepherd who arrived at the shelter with his brother, both in need of extra socialization and care. Initially, Blaine was very frightened and lacked leash experience, but thanks to patient volunteers, he has made impressive progress, now enjoying leisurely walks in the park and gentle pets. While he remains a bit shy and undersocialized, especially in new or noisy environments, Blaine has shown friendliness and tolerance when meeting other dogs in playgroups—though he should meet resident dogs beforehand to ensure a good fit. Blaine’s ideal home will be a secure, patient environment with a kind, strong handler willing to work with him at his own pace, especially during his adjustment period. He remains on Prozac for anxiety, which must be continued under veterinary supervision. Because he’s a significant flight risk and still learning the ropes, he needs to go home with a martingale collar, flat clip leash, and remain on a dragline for the first several weeks until he’s comfortable. Blaine is available for adoption or foster care (30+ days), but all interested families must visit Pima Animal Care Center before the adoption deadline and participate in a counseling session. Your patience and gentle guidance will help Blaine truly blossom in a loving home environment. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
