About Kona
Kona is a large brindle-and-white mixed breed (mastiff/pit bull terrier) with a laid-back personality and an open, easy charm. He handles both wilderness trails and lazy days on the couch without missing a beat. Once at risk in the shelter system with heartworm disease, Kona has bounced back, completed his treatment, and is now healthy and fully cleared by vets. He’s around three and a half years old, weighs in at a sturdy 57 lbs, and loves company—his current foster home has two beagles and a senior pit bull, and Kona fits right into the pack. Calm and gentle indoors, Kona is affectionate without being needy and is fully house trained. He enjoys walks on leash, prefers not to share toys (he’s still figuring out playtime), and is best matched with homes that don’t have cats. He’s fine with older kids, as his bursts of excitement can be a bit much for the youngest children. Though crate training is in progress (he may serenade you if left alone), he loves a car ride just as much as his next trail walk. Neutered and fully vetted, Kona is ready for an adopter looking for a loyal, mellow adventure companion. He’s a December Capricorn, which means a reliable and steady nature.
