About Ernie
Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now! Handsome Ernie is on the lookout for a foster or forever family who can help him come out of his shell. This sweet yellow Labrador Retriever is about 1.5 years old and currently weighs in near 85 pounds. Having just joined the rescue, Ernie is adjusting to the world outside his breeder beginnings and will need some time and patience as he learns how to be a beloved companion in a real home for the first time. Ernie is a bit timid and nervous with new people and situations, so a gentle introduction to family life is best. He should be placed with older kids who understand his uncertainty as he settles in. He does enjoy the company of other dogs, but may need help with boundaries (he can initially be a bit "hump-y," but this is expected to improve following his upcoming neuter). Foster or adoptive families should be ready to go slow and supervise early interactions. While his house training status is still to be determined, patience and a positive approach will help him quickly catch on. What are you waiting for? Apply today!

Questions about Ernie
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Labrador Retrievers are versatile dogs who are happiest in homes where they are included as part of the family. They adapt well to suburban, rural, or urban environments as long as they receive enough exercise.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
This breed does well with a yard or regular access to outdoor spaces. Daily walks and playtime are important, so a fenced yard is ideal but not required as long as they get consistent exercise.

Labrador Retrievers are known for being gentle and patient, making them excellent companions for children. Proper introductions and supervision with young kids are recommended.
