About Opie
Opie survived a shelter fire and hasn’t let that stop his spirit. He’s a smart, young Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler and Australian Shepherd mix who already knows sit, wait, lay down, and is learning new commands. Opie first went home as a puppy to a family with five kids, but the noise made him anxious, so now he’s looking for a quieter place where he can relax and thrive. After a good play session, Opie is happy to curl up for a nap on the couch and enjoys giving kisses. He walks nicely on leash, likes long walks and playtime, and is friendly with other dogs. His favorite rewards are treats and attention. Opie recently beat a tick-borne disease, Ehrlicchia, after finishing his antibiotics—he’s feeling healthy and happy now. Opie isn’t currently house trained since he’s been living in the shelter. He would do best with an adopter who lives within two hours of Sparta, NJ, and can come meet him in person. He’s ready for a calm, loving home where he can settle in and open up. Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.
