About Ranger

Ranger is pure Aussie—brilliant, energetic, and convinced he’s management material. This two-and-a-half-year-old from Brainerd, MN needs an adopter with real Australian Shepherd or Heeler experience who understands working dogs. Ranger has a serious movement drive. He’ll excel if his mind and body are put to work—think agility, herding, or advanced obedience. He’ll let you know what’s on his mind, Aussie-style, with a whine here and there, and has even taught himself to open doors. Lock the treats up tight. He’s house-trained and crate-trained, motivated by toys and play. Ranger thrives on mental challenges and has a knack for figuring things out, right down to giving you a polite nudge when it’s time for food. While he hasn’t lived with kids, he’s fascinated watching them play. Ranger gets along with other dogs when introduced correctly, but he’s leash reactive and needs confident, positive training to manage that. He doesn’t get along with cats, so a feline-free home is a must. Ranger is not your typical lounge-around companion. He’s looking for someone who can keep up with his quick mind and strong herding instincts. If you know herders and like a dog who keeps life interesting, Ranger is waiting for you. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
