About Peg

If you are interested in any of the dogs available at New Leash Rescue, you can reach out to the foster listed below for more information and then complete an adoption application which can be found at https://www.newleashrescue.org/adopt/policy. Please email the completed application to newleashrescue2018@gmail.com Peg is 2-3 years old and originally was a pregnant unclaimed stray. She raised 6 babies and now is ready for a home of her own! She is great with other dogs and loves to play with some of her fur siblings in their fenced in yard at her foster home. She is a very good natured girl when at home with her family she knows, and an absolute gem of a dog for a family who can work with her on visitors to her home. When she is comfortable at home and visitors come over, she will be standoffish and defensive toward them barking a lot and keeping a safe distance. She will warm up with some time but likely will not be a fit for any homes with a lot of visitors coming and going. She is never defensive when out in public - she loves everyone and accepts them right away. She's protective of her home turf. She is doing well on house training and crate training and will need a refresher in a new home, as it is stressful to change to a new home and setup. She can get into trouble a bit if she gets bored and is left uncrated. She is not a barker. Adoption fee is $500+ tax (no checks) Email to contact: newleashrescue2018@gmail.com Please inquire if this pup will be attending any of our upcoming Saturday adoption events from 11-2pm at the Burnsville, Cottage Grove, or Forest Lake PetSmart locations. Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home and truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption, discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.
