Citrus arrived at the rescue after a long ordeal, having already raised one litter of kittens and surviving the trauma of losing much of her second litter to illness. She's grown from a fiercely protective mother into an independent and confident cat. Citrus is happiest being part of the household—but prefers not to be a lap cat. She enjoys short cuddles, especially chin scratches, but will let you know when she’s had enough. Back or tail pets are off-limits according to her rules. Citrus gets along with both dogs and other cats, though she has a definite alpha streak and would be quite content as the only pet in the home. She likes her own space and is better suited for an adult home, as she can be direct when she’s done with attention. Playful and clever, Citrus loves lounging in baskets and basking in sunny spots. She thrives when allowed to be herself, given patience, and a sense of security she likely missed out on before rescue. She’s spayed and current on her vaccinations.
