About Hattie
Hattie is a unique, spirited girl who'll show you how rewarding it is to care for a special needs dog. At 3 years old and 35 lbs, Hattie lives with hydrocephalus, a condition that causes blindness, but she doesn't let it slow her down. Her daily regimen includes anti-seizure medication, and she's thrived with that straightforward management in her foster home. The ideal adopter is someone familiar with hydrocephalus who can stick to her rigid routine and help her adjust at her own pace; fast transitions stress her, and it takes time for her to learn a new environment. Hattie's not a cuddler and keeps interactions with other dogs measured, preferring to quietly observe instead of joining in for play. She lives in a foster home with dogs of all ages and needs, doing well as long as she's given space to explore new companions on her terms. Hattie does well with potty training but will always have occasional accidents—hydrocephalus dogs don't fully grasp the concept, so patience and understanding are a must. Local adopters only (Oklahoma), with a requirement for fenced yards—apartments aren't a fit. The adoption process involves home visits and multiple meetings to help Hattie settle. She's spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and fully vaccinated. Click apply to start the adoption process.
