About Leila
Leila is a gentle, medium-haired black cat who just wants a quiet, cozy place to call home. She was rescued after being found curled up outside in Newark, making the best of a pile of cold leaves. Despite the rough start, she’s chunky, healthy-looking, and sports irresistibly chubby chipmunk cheeks. Leila is the picture of sweetness: very friendly, happiest as a lap cat, and completely content kneading biscuits in your lap for hours. She does great with children and is happy to be handled, never lashing out or hiding away. Leila loves the company of other cats—so long as they are FELV-positive like her. She’s tested negative for FIV and is completely up to date on vaccines. She has been spayed. While her FELV status might give some adopters pause, it should not hold her back from finding a loving home. Leila’s calm nature and fondness for sitting quietly with humans make her the ideal companion for anyone seeking a peaceful presence. She has not yet been tested with dogs. Her perfect match would be an adopter with no other cats or only other FELV-positive cats. If you have questions about FELV, the rescue is happy to talk and share why adopting an FELV cat is a wonderful decision. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
