About Blaze

Blaze is just a year old and came into rescue after being found with his sisters and mom in a garage about to be demolished. Since then, he’s been thriving in foster care, lavished with love and attention. Blaze is mostly ginger with white patches, closely resembling his mom and often staying close by her side. He’s got sharp pale yellow eyes and a face his foster swears could play a young Pumba from The Lion King. Blaze is often one of the first to greet people at the door and usually shows a friendly, curious bravado, though every now and then he’ll pause and choose caution over boldness. Blaze has a gentle social streak—he’ll rub up against his foster and settle in close, whether beside a chair or underfoot. However, he isn’t keen on petting and will swat at hands reaching for him; his foster is putting in the work to help him gain confidence and accept more affection in time. This cautiousness extends to his protective streak, especially when his mom or sisters are being petted nearby. Blaze’s playful side comes out with wand toys, lasers, toy mice, and springs—he enjoys anything that stirs up the hunter in him. When seeing resident cats through a pet gate, he’s curious but calm and shows no outward aggression, hinting that, with proper introductions, he should fit in with other cats. Blaze hasn’t met children or dogs, but interacts easily with adults and new faces alike, including pet sitters. He’s FIV/FELV negative, neutered, and current on vaccinations. Give him a little time and patience—he’s poised to bloom even further in a home of his own. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
