Birdie
AvailableBirdie is a female mixed breed with Staffordshire Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier roots, currently living in Phoenix, AZ. She is an adult, around 6 years and 4 months old. Birdie is a medium-sized, well-trained, house trained, spayed companion with up-to-date vaccinations. She does have some special needs due to allergies requiring a special diet, and she's had spinal surgery twice.
About Birdie
Birdie is a whip-smart, confident dog with plenty of character and opinions. She picks up new things fast, always motivated if there’s a treat in it for her. She already knows a pile of commands—sit, down, wait, place—and calmly heels on lead. You'll see right away she likes clear leadership and appreciates someone with confidence, too. Birdie lights up when people or other dogs are around and makes friends easily, though her assertiveness means she does better with older children rather than little ones. The rescue will help with slow, successful intros to other dogs. She has a skin condition from old sunburns, so she can’t bask outside—she’ll need sunblock, a protective jacket, and no tanning sessions. Birdie’s also on a special allergy diet and has had some back surgery, so jumping up on furniture is a no. That means no fur on your couch! She’s happiest chasing toys and tearing into a food puzzle, or just joining you for a walk around Phoenix. Life won’t get dull with Birdie at your side. Click apply to start the adoption process.

Questions about Birdie
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Birdie, with her Staffordshire roots, thrives in homes where she can get both mental and physical stimulation. She's best suited for families or individuals who have enough time and energy to keep her engaged, ideally in a house with space to play.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
As a Staffordshire mix, Birdie will benefit from a secure, moderate outdoor space for play, but she doesn’t need huge acreage. She enjoys walks and active playtime, so a fenced yard or regular outings will keep her happy.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Birdie does best with older children, as her bossy and confident personality can be overwhelming for the very young. The Staffordshire breeds are generally loyal but need clear rules around kids.
