About Rudy
Rudy has been overlooked too often, which is a shame because there’s so much to like about him. Rescued in the nick of time after a rough start living wild, he came to Mercy after an injury and some tough pack dynamics forced him out. His journey has been bumpy—frightened at first and unsure—but routine, patience, and real dog skills turned everything around. It takes Rudy a few days to settle when his environment changes, but once he feels safe, his funny, stubborn, loyal personality kicks in. He’s a brown pit, lab, bulldog, and Australian cattle dog mix—a quirky blend who doesn’t stand out in the kennels but totally shines once comfortable. He’s goofy, talkative, and absolutely adores toys (but keep him out of the bathtub if you value your hearing). Rudy is house trained, neutered, vaccinated, and in good health. He gets along well with most dogs after a cautious intro, but doesn’t get along with cats. There’s a lot of heart in this guy for whoever takes the time to help him adjust. His adoption comes with a special kennel to ease his transition, and his fee is sponsored for the right home. With a February 12 birthday, Rudy’s an Aquarius—no surprise, since he’s truly one of a kind. They don’t make many dogs like him. Adoption within the U.S. only. Start your journey together! Apply now.
