About Ford

Ford spent much of his life as a stray, fending for himself on the streets of Tulsa. Trapping him was tough; he injured himself while trying to escape and arrived at the rescue emaciated, with missing fur, heartworm, and scars all over. He was reactive to new people and uncertain in unfamiliar settings. Over two years in care have changed him: Ford has become a genuinely happy, well-behaved dog who’s easy to handle with those he trusts. He craves affection and just needs his own person to love him. Ford can be loud and intimidating in a kennel or behind a fence with strangers, but there’s no history of biting or aggression—he’s only ever known how to protect himself first. Because of his past, Ford needs to be the only animal in the home and is not suitable around children, other dogs, or cats. Ford is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and has completed heartworm treatment. His adoption fee is $98, and the rescue is committed to keeping him safe as a sanctuary dog if the right fit doesn’t come along. Ford’s journey hasn’t been easy, but he’s looking for that rare person ready to give him the peace he’s never known. Click apply to start the adoption process.
