Hi, my name is Mildred. When I first came to the shelter, I was very skinny and a little unsure about people. I was found as a stray running along a busy road, and I didn’t really know what it meant to be cared for or to live inside. At first, I was pretty nervous and didn’t want anyone to get too close — but I’ve been learning that people can be kind. I’ve already gained some healthy weight (though I still have a little way to go), and I’m making slow but steady progress in trusting the humans around me. I currently live with another dog who’s also learning that life with people is pretty great, and having a buddy helps me feel more comfortable. I may take a little time to warm up, but once I do, you’ll see how special I really am. I’m looking for someone patient and gentle who will give me the love and time I need to fully come out of my shell.
