About Millie
Millie is a special case and needs an experienced, patient adopter who truly understands complicated, unsocialized dogs. She’s an English Cream Golden Retriever with a history of surviving months alone in the woods and living through hurricanes, which left her extremely fearful of humans but deeply bonded to dogs. Millie’s happiest when she’s part of a pack—she thrives around other dogs, is playful and submissive, and never wants to leave their side. She’s house trained, crate trained, food motivated, and would do well in a doggy daycare environment. Despite her gentle nature with canines, she wants nothing to do with people. Human interaction causes her intense anxiety, and even small noises or a cornered space can send her into panic. For Millie’s safety and comfort, she must join a home with at least two large, playful dogs as companions (some flexibility here if you have a very secure setup). She likely gets along with cats, but no children or ever-present young visitors. The home must have a secure, 6-foot fenced yard—she will jump shorter fences. The adopter cannot use retractable leashes or ever allow her off leash outside a fully contained space. She’s only suitable for very dog-savvy people who can keep her secure and calm—first time dog owners are not a match. Millie is located near Tampa and must remain within an hour for adoption. She has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and is now heartworm negative after her rough start. Born on November 11, Millie falls under Scorpio—known for resilience and intensity.
