Pepita
AvailablePepita is a 12-and-a-half-year-old spayed female Chihuahua in El Cajon, CA. She’s small in size and house trained. Though she has some physical differences, including a deformed front leg and most of her bottom jaw missing, she doesn’t let those slow her down.
About Pepita
Pepita is a tiny, scrappy Chihuahua with a big personality packed into her barely 4 lb frame. When she first left the shelter, she was terrified—screaming if touched and only letting anyone near her when bundled up tight. After a few days of calm and patience, she started to trust a little more, flinching less and even letting herself be picked up. It took a while for her to accept sitting together, but once Pepita decides you’re her person, she’s completely devoted. She loves winding herself into your neck, giving kisses, and prancing over at mealtime or whenever called. Her history is a mystery, and she’s still learning how to relax into a safe, steady life filled with good food and soft beds. Around other dogs, Pepita mostly minds her space but will happily share a bed. She’s also content living with cats. Even with her deformed front leg and the fact that she’s missing most of her bottom jaw, she’s full of energy—bounding around the yard, eating heartily, and even cleaning up after the cat’s dish. She’s fully house trained, has adapted to both regular and potty pad routines, and tolerates car rides though they make her a bit nervous. She’ll bark at strangers but quickly warms up once she sees they’re familiar faces. Pepita shines with patient people who understand her quirks and value her loyalty over perfection. Give her a little room to adjust and she’ll be a lively, loving companion for the next chapter of her life. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
