About Bronco

Meet Bronco—a 15 lb tricolored Lhasa/Shih Tzu/Poodle mix, about 3 years old, with plenty of personality and opinions. After landing in the shelter due to a bite in a previous home, Bronco has been training to get more comfortable with handling and reduce his fear-based reactions. He's wary of strangers at first, but once he gets to know you and understands the ground rules, he’s affectionate, loyal, and eager to please. Bronco is happiest in a structured home led by adults who have experience with dogs who sometimes set their own terms. Kids are not a fit due to his handling sensitivities. He’s made solid progress with his trainer, especially on walks, and will come with continued trainer support. Bronco loves toys, fetch, and food—he eats with gusto and plays with intensity but also knows how to chill around the house. While he can be vocal when people pass by, especially in an apartment or condo, he settles down quickly when corrected. He doesn’t have separation anxiety and enjoys being with other dogs once he's properly introduced. Bronco does best with daily long walks or other physical outlets for his energy. His potty training is solid but may need monitoring in a new place. He waits for approval before fully accepting new house rules—give him consistency, and he’ll reward you. Bronco won’t be attending adoption events; approved applicants can meet him by appointment. Give this opinionated but loving guy the right home and he’ll show you just how devoted a little dog can be. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!

Questions about Bronco

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Bronco’s mix of Lhasa Apso and Shih Tzu does well in homes where routines are clear and boundaries respected. Because of his strong opinions and past sensitivities, a quieter, adult-only household suits him best.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

A yard is a bonus for Bronco, but daily long walks and interactive play really meet his needs. Apartment living is possible, but consistent, structured exercise is non-negotiable for his physical and mental health.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Bronco’s temperament and background make him a poor fit for children. He needs an adult-only home that understands how to manage and respect his boundaries.
