About Maximus

Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now! Maximus, affectionately called Max, once had a loving home, but his life changed when his owner passed away from cancer and he found himself in a high-kill shelter. Despite this hardship, Max retains a gentle soul and a love for the comforts of home, having previously lived happily with another dog and been exposed to children. In his temporary home, he has continued to get along well with other dogs, though it’s recommended he be placed somewhere without small dogs or children due to a previous bite incident that may have stemmed from stress or health issues during a traumatic period. Max is a strong, powerful boy who needs an experienced, confident handler to help him feel safe and settled. He’s friendly, loves to be scratched, walks with swagger, and is both housetrained and crate trained. He rides well in the car and is comfortable during vet visits and when handled by staff, even under stress. Max has been vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and thoroughly vet-checked—he is truly ready to start a happy new chapter with the safety and compassion he deserves. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
