About Max

Max is a small, 3-year-old terrier mix living in a loving foster home in Austin, TX. He weighs about 16 pounds and has a blond, medium-length coat. With a background of independence, Max needs a confident adopter who can provide a routine, clear boundaries, and structure. He’s best for homes with children over 9, as he adores kids but requires humans old enough to help with structure and consistency. Max is social with other dogs—especially slightly older, larger females—and enjoys playful company. He can be wary of strangers at first, so a bit of patience is needed while he warms up, but after that, he’s happy to curl up for snuggles. Max is house trained and uses a doggie door. He sleeps peacefully in his crate at night and loves car rides. Already neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative, Max comes with three private, in-home training lessons through OpenGates training. He knows several commands and loves training for treats and playing with toys. He’s met a cat—mostly barked, didn’t chase—so he may coexist with a tolerant feline. Max’s ideal adopter will have experience managing active, independent dogs and will be local to the Austin area, as Lil’ Paws adopts only within this region due to their hands-on adoption process. The rescue’s mission is to keep their placements safe, stable, and loving. Click apply to start the adoption process.
