About Petrie

Petrie landed at the shelter after a transfer from the local pound, weighing in at around 40 lbs. He’s an athletic, compact, and muscular mixed-breed—likely with Black Mouth Cur and bully breed terrier in the mix. Around 3 years old, Petrie has a lot of energy, loves to run, hike, and play, and thrives on activity with people. He’s attentive, smart, and trained, always eager to follow commands, and bonds quickly with those who spend time with him. He’s silly, upbeat, and curious, keeping his eyes trained on his people and always ready to explore. Expect a strong prey drive, so he may not do well with small critters. He’s likely to make an excellent watchdog and outdoor companion, ready to chase off anything lurking nearby. At the shelter, his interactions with other dogs have mostly been fence-line running and excitement, but there is some evidence from his prior home that he may get along with dogs. Official playgroups haven’t happened yet. He’s neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and has all his shots. Petrie isn’t house trained yet—he’ll need someone who can help him learn those ropes. His ideal home is active, outdoorsy, and confident in managing a dog with energy and a protective streak. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
