Sophia’s early life was anything but easy. She came out of a harsh, abusive situation where she was kept only for breeding and left behind when her owners abandoned their home. Thankfully, Sophia’s neighbors stepped in and got her the care she desperately needed. When she arrived at the rescue, she was malnourished and anxious around people, but slowly, through patience and care, she started to trust again. Sophia has made friends with other dogs in foster care and relies on canine companionship to help her feel safe in new situations. She is still uncomfortable when meeting new people, but she is never aggressive—she simply prefers to observe quietly or stick close to another dog to gauge what’s happening.
