She came to us from the streets of Hartford, weary from a life of surviving on her own and raising litter after litter without help. When she arrived, we braced ourselves, certain she’d test positive for FIV—but to our surprise, she didn’t.Her name comes from the look in her eyes—eyes full of wishes. She wished she didn’t have to fend for herself, she wished she didn’t have to struggle to keep her babies safe, and she wished she wasn’t so tired. At one point, she laid her litter of seven tiny kittens out in the sun as if to say, “I can’t do this anymore.” Against the odds, and with her fierce determination, two of those babies survived.Now that her kittens are weaned and she’s no longer burdened with motherhood, Wishy Whispy is ready to wish for something just for herself: a forever home. She dreams of a calm space with a soft bed, regular canned food, and—most importantly—people who see past her tired tabby coat and into her beautiful, soulful eyes.Wishy Whispy isn’t looking to be friends with other cats, but she could coexist as long as they respect her space. What she truly wants is peace and love from her very own humans.
