About Capitan
Capitan is a sweet, sturdy young dog weighing around 25-30 pounds and still filling out. He has the soft looks of a Border Collie with hints of Terrier, Lab, and Dalmatian—making for a one-of-a-kind mix you won't find twice. Despite being deaf and mostly blind (with one eye removed due to a congenital issue and compromised vision in the other), Capitan gets around with surprising ease, tracking shadows and exploring his environment confidently. He loves company and thrives with other dogs and children. While cats haven’t caught much of his attention so far, thoughtful introductions are best. Capitan is crate trained, progressing nicely with potty training, and shows promise on leash walks. You’ll find him happiest splashing in water or rolling in mud, so expect some messy joy along the way. Due to his special needs, Capitan will do best with someone experienced in caring for a differently-abled dog who can give him the patient training and love he deserves. His health is solid—he’s neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Capitan is waiting for a family to welcome him and his unstoppable spirit into their home. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
