Meet Dax! Hi! I'm Dax! My foster mom calls me Daxy Boy sometimes! I am a pretty big boy and I am 7 years old. I'm already neutered, and up to date on vaccines. I am also house trained, so unless I have an upset tummy, I always wait until I get let outside. I can be a little nervous when I first meet new people, but if you take it slow and let me come to you, I am much more comfortable with that. Oh! If you have cheese, I am muuuch more likely to want to be your friend. My favorite things include cheese, being outside (I love sunbathing on the deck and could spend the entire day doing this), going for car rides, going on "walkies" and I sometimes think I'm a small dog and might try to crawl into your lap once I'm comfortable with you. Before I came into the rescue, I was used to being outside and not at all comfortable in the kennel. I tried to escape and broke the wire kennels. Foster mom has started using an "Alcatraz" style kennel for me and I like this much better. It keeps me safe, and I know I get a treat when I go in. I do sometimes like to vocalize that I'd rather not be in the kennel, so for this reason I don't think an apartment would be a good fit for me. So far, I really like other dogs!! I've met dogs ranging from 10lbs- 45lbs. I really like the male dogs I've met, a little too much. Foster mom has to recall me away from the boys because I don't understand that they want space from me. When they correct me, I just go back for more. Once I get the sniffs out with female dogs, I really don't care about their presence. I would probably do fine as an only pet. I absolutely hate bath time, and I will let you know that. Foster mom is trying to make it a positive experience, but I don't know about that. I am not sure if I will like kids, so I think I would do best in a kid-free home, or a home with older kids who can understand if I want to be left alone.
