About Papi Chulo

Papi Chulo is an 8-year-old black and tan male Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua mix whose small size doesn't make him any less full of character. After being picked up as a stray, he landed in rescue where he now waits for someone with real experience around Chihuahuas. He weighs just 6 pounds, is neutered, updated on all his vaccines, and recently had dental work done. Papi Chulo is feisty and definitely set in his ways. He favors teenage kids and bonds closely, following them around, but he isn't suited to homes with young children or lots of visitors. He's still working on his potty training, often using puppy pads and sometimes wears a bellyband. Carry a travel dog bag and he’ll hop right in—Papi Chulo enjoys a ride over a long walk, and prefers to be carried for most outings. He can be territorial over his teddy bear and likes to sleep in his crate with his bed, blanket, and treasured toy. While he gets along with small female dogs, he tends to irritate other males, so he's happiest as an only dog or with the right quiet companion. He eats organic canned food and, in true quirky form, sometimes likes to be spoon-fed. Papi Chulo needs someone ready to watch him close—he's tried to slip out under the fence—but he is learning to walk on a harness. If you know Chihuahuas and appreciate a stubborn, spirited little dog who knows what he likes, Papi Chulo might be the one. No flights for this guy; he’s waiting in Pinellas Park, FL, ready to meet his match. This could be the start of something paw-some.
