About Jake
Jake is a one-year-old male, possibly a Hound/Blue Heeler mix, who first turned up near a Dollar General in Belpre, Ohio. After some time in city custody with hopes of finding his former people, no family came forward, and Jake landed with the HSOV. He has a sleek black-and-tan coat with a splash of blue ticking on his chest, a long expressive tail, and striking dark eyes framed by big floppy ears. There’s some blue and white along his muzzle and a thin stripe down his forehead—small details that add to his charm. He weighs in at 42 lbs and carries himself with a sweet, approachable personality. People get an immediate tail wag from Jake, but he doesn’t get along with cats. When given a break from shelter life at Boxers Bed & Biscuits, he enjoyed the freedom and socialization. Jake returned to the shelter in June 2025 and is more than ready for a permanent, loving home. He’s neutered and up-to-date on his rabies vaccine. If you want a loyal companion who’d rather be by your side than in a kennel, Jake could be the right fit. Start your journey together! Apply now.
