Lily is a clever, affectionate 18-month-old Collie and Australian Cattle Dog mix with a petite, agile build—she weighs about 41 lbs and sports velvety-soft, short red merle fur with warm, expressive eyes. Lily prefers not to live with cats or small animals, and she tends to thrive either as the only dog in the home or alongside a canine friend larger than herself who enjoys some playful roughhousing. She’s known to take charge among her peers but responds well to confident, bigger dogs who set respectful boundaries. Deeply bonded to people, Lily loves lap time but isn’t overly kissy; she simply wants to be close. True to her Cattle Dog heritage, she’s perceptive and cautious in new situations, taking her time to observe before engaging. She’s already started Scent Work classes and participates in AKC Canine Partners events, showing how sharp and eager she is to learn. Lily is also remarkably clever—she can open gates and wire crates if they aren’t clipped closed to free herself or her buddies. Crate trained but happiest in her own dog-safe room when unsupervised, Lily is house trained, strolls well on a leash, and sticks close to her person. She prefers treats over toys and is especially food-motivated—which makes training her a breeze. Her current family is ready to help her new people with transition tips and enrichment ideas to keep Lily’s mind engaged. Lily is not suitable for homes with cats or young children but would be a devoted companion for someone who’s active, thoughtful, and up for some fun training sessions.
