Petey
AvailablePetey is a large young neutered male with a short white, cream, and black coat. He is an American Bulldog mix in Plainfield, NJ. Petey’s vaccinations are up to date. He’s looking for a home prepared for a big, playful personality.
About Petey
Petey barrels into every room like a big, bouncy wrecking ball. His daily antics have earned him a reputation for both trouble and affection—he’ll snatch the leash, tumble you off the couch, and still look up with those sad eyes as if to say, "Who, me?" Petey loves everyone he meets, but he comes on a bit strong and quickly winds himself up with excitement. There’s no hiding that he’s still a giant, happy puppy at heart: expect jumping, nipping at sleeves, and loads of rowdy play when the energy spikes. He needs a family who genuinely matches his intensity and is ready for a goofy dog who’ll test the limits and require structure. Mature teens and adults only; younger kids won’t be the right fit. Petey can meet another large, playful female dog if you already have one, but no little dogs or cats—his enthusiasm just isn’t compatible. Petey missed out on early training and will need an adopter willing to put in the work and build routines from scratch. In return, he’s affectionate, playful, food-driven, and eager to learn. If you’re ready to trade patience and effort for loyalty and laughs, Petey is waiting for you. Your new best friend is just one click away.

Questions about Petey
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Petey, as an American Bulldog mix, fits best in a home with ample space and an engaged family—ideally with a fenced yard and people ready to set boundaries. He is not well suited for apartments or small living areas due to his size and energy.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
American Bulldog mixes like Petey thrive with daily access to a securely fenced yard where they can run and play. Extended outdoor time is important to burn off his high energy.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Petey’s breed can be good with older, mature children, but his current behaviors make him unsuitable for homes with young kids. He’ll do best in households with teens or adults able to manage his exuberance.
