About Chaplin
Start your journey together! Apply now. Life as a discarded hunting dog was filled with hardship for Chaplin, but now, his days are brighter and filled with comfort and love. Together with his companion Heidi, he’s beginning a new chapter, seeking a forever home where they can embrace retirement as a bonded pair. Their days now revolve around enjoying a fenced yard for leisurely sniffing, followed by peaceful indoor naps, and soaking up the affection they always deserved. Both Chaplin and Heidi are remarkably gentle and laid-back. Although they previously lived exclusively outdoors, they’re making great strides in learning house training. Chaplin wears a diaper only if his foster parents are away and rarely has an accident. The pair are well-behaved when left alone, don’t jump on furniture, and don’t require crates—though they will use one if needed. Because stairs pose a challenge (Chaplin is particularly unsteady on them), a home with minimal stairs and perhaps a baby gate helps keep them safe. Chaplin is a sweet, happy boy with striking honey-colored eyes, and at just 9 years old, he’s younger than initially believed thanks to a recent DNA age test. Weighing about 30 lbs., Chaplin is neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped, and fully up to date on vaccinations. He lives with a permanent head tilt and walks with some unsteadiness—a result of years of untreated ear infections that also gave him “cauliflower ear.” Though this means his ears should always be gently handled and cleaned weekly, he’s in good health and happy, especially when surrounded by love and his best friend, Heidi. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
