About Caesar

Meet Caesar, a young Black Labrador Retriever mix who’s never had a real home of his own. At about 1 year and 10 months old, Caesar is still much like an oversized puppy—clumsy, eager, and in search of someone patient. He’s been in the rescue since he was just five months old. Caesar can be nervous with new people or when surprised, but once he feels safe—and you bribe him with toys or treats—he warms quickly and forms strong bonds. Stuffed toys, water play, treats, walks, and car rides are his favorites. Caesar knows a long list of commands, including Sit, Down, Shake, Touch, Spin, Stay, Come, Place, Middle, Drop It, and is working on Give Kiss and Sit Pretty. He does okay in a crate with time to settle, and he’s making progress being brave in new settings. Caesar needs to be the only pet: he isn’t comfortable living with dogs or cats, and he’d do best in a home with teens 14+ rather than young children. The rescue offers ongoing training and support to help the right adopter give Caesar a real chance. Caesar’s adoption fee is fully waived, and there’s even a financial incentive for approved adopters. He’s in Fairfax Station, VA, and still waiting for his first true home. Caesar’s breed tends to do well with children when properly socialized, but Caesar himself would do best with older kids—teens 14 and up—given his nervousness and unique needs.
