This big, smart guy didn’t get the start he deserved—raised alongside his littermate by well-meaning adopters who quickly found themselves overwhelmed by two strong, high-energy pups. Without the structure and training a young shepherd needs, Butch found himself getting into mischief: escaping the yard, butting heads with other dogs, and learning some habits that didn’t exactly earn him neighborhood MVP. But here’s the good news: since arriving at Hood River Adopt-A-Dog, Butch has become a staff and volunteer favorite. He’s affectionate, goofy, and so ready for a person who sees past his bumpy past and into his brilliant potential. Butch is dog-reactive, a result of early socialization gaps, so he’s looking for a home where he can be your one and only—a loyal partner on adventures, hikes, or just hanging out at home. He’d thrive on some space to roam (think: country setting or large yard) and a person who’s ready to build trust and structure with him. Butch doesn’t want to be just another dog.
