Heidi spent her life as a discarded hunting dog before landing a soft spot to land with her friend Chaplin. These two have known neglect, but they’ve now settled into comfort, routine, and gentle care. They’re a bonded pair, so a home that will keep them together through retirement is important. Heidi thrives with plenty of naps, quiet time inside, and freedom to sniff around a safely fenced yard. While used to living outdoors, she’s made progress with house training—she’ll wear a diaper but needs only about one per day. She doesn’t jump on furniture, stays calm when left alone, and doesn’t need to be crated (though she’ll go in if asked). She’s not especially surefooted on stairs, so her home will need either minimal steps or simple gates for safety. A low deck or a couple of steps don’t pose issues. Heidi’s got honey-colored eyes and an easygoing temperament that makes life smoother for everyone around her.
