About Josie
Josie is an 18-month-old female mixed breed weighing about 60 lbs, who brings a gentle, happy presence wherever she goes. Josie lights up when she meets other dogs—she mixes comfortably with dogs of any size and enjoys social outings. While she can be a bit reserved with new people at first, she warms up to gentle attention and will gladly stick close once she trusts you. She’s a fan of walks and adventure, hopping eagerly into the car. Her leash manners are solid, and she loves treats, which she takes delicately from your hand. She uses the doggie door, is reliably house trained, and quietly sleeps through the night in her crate. Josie rarely barks and generally minds her manners indoors, although she does like to sneak off with any errant socks she finds, dropping them in random spots. Bath time isn’t her favorite, but she’s drawn to water—happy to splash in streams and jump over beach waves, though the ocean surf is not her thing. Inside, Josie acts as your loyal shadow. She prefers to keep tabs on the family without being intrusive, and she doesn’t seek out hugs or cuddles. She’s best with older children who can respect her quieter nature, as younger kids may not understand her boundaries. Josie is already spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. She’s currently fostered with two other adult dogs in Scotts Valley and is looking to find her people at last. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.

Questions about Josie
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Josie's mixed breed background makes her quite adaptable, but she thrives in a home where she can get plenty of attention, daily exercise, and some quiet time. A suburban or rural environment with room for walks would suit her best.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Josie will benefit from a yard or regular access to parks where she can get outside and explore. She's active and enjoys outdoor play, but she's not overly demanding if given daily walks and some off-leash time.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Josie is gentle around children, but due to her shyness and sensitivity, she is best suited for families with older kids who understand her need for space and don't expect her to be a cuddler.
