Paupau
AvailablePaupau is a large, adult, neutered male Labrador Retriever mix with a black coat, currently in Milton, DE. He is vaccinated, house trained, and gets along well with other dogs and children, although careful introductions to new people—especially men—are best. Paupau lost significant weight after battling distemper, so monitoring his diet is important. He is eager to learn and does well on a leash and in the car.
About Paupau
Paupau is a mellow Lab mix looking for a quiet home where life stays on the calm side. At 9 to 10 years old, he’s beaten distemper, though it’s left him with raspy breathing. He doesn’t need medication, but don’t expect him to be your jogging partner—short walks are his speed. Paupau once tipped the scale at 114 pounds before slimming down to a much healthier 60, so his adopter will need to set boundaries when it comes to food; he lives for snacks and has a nose for trouble if crumbs are left out. He’s housebroken, crate trained, and reliable in the car. Expect some light leash pulling, but nothing wild. Paupau enjoys the company of other dogs and is currently living with three, and he has done well around teenagers and young kids in past fosters. Still, because he can be reactive with new people—especially men—meets should be held outside with treats to break the ice. Cat compatibility hasn’t been tested. He knows a handful of commands and is still happy to learn, especially if snacks are involved. This old boy will vacuum up any food around, so keep counters clear and snacks healthy. Paupau needs an experienced adopter who understands how to introduce him to new faces gently and safely. Once he trusts you, you won’t find a happier tail. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
