Bentley is a 3-year-old Shih Tzu with a distinct look and personality. Life hasn't always been kind to him. His rough patches mostly came down to a medical issue; a detached retina in his left eye led to grumpiness and reclusive behavior. Since his successful eye removal, Bentley has relaxed and is discovering comfort in his foster home. He’ll cautiously claim his space, surveying the house like royalty. With dogs or humans, he’s happiest if given time and room—he’ll approach when he’s ready, and then you’ll see his affectionate side. He loves car rides, daily walks, and has a firm opinion about dog beds—Bentley only likes certain kinds and is particular about his sleeping spots, usually choosing chairs where he can tuck himself away but keep an eye on things. Because he’s still learning to trust, Bentley does best in an adult home without young kids. He can be vocal at times, so a house suits him better than an apartment. He tolerates other dogs as long as they give him space. Folks who appreciate a dog on his own terms, and have a bit of patience, will find a loyal companion and a bit of a character in Bentley.
