Meet the extraordinary Hero! 🌟 This beautiful boy is about 5 years old and a delightful blend of Golden Retriever and Great Pyrenees. Can you imagine? A soul so brave, he was found as a stray, bravely running from a life that tried to hold him back. When Hero arrived at a shelter in Indiana, he was facing a mountain of challenges, and the shelter, lacking the funds necessary for his vet care, reached out for help. Fortunately, he found his way to a loving rescue, just in time! 🙌 Hero currently weighs 52 pounds but is in desperate need of some serious TLC—his little ribcage and spine are a testament to what he’s been through. His ears were painfully infected and he sports a sore on his nose from surviving against all odds in a wire cage. To top it off, our brave Hero is heartworm positive—a condition that demands expensive treatment. And yes, when he first arrived, let’s just say he shared a bit too much information with us; more worms than we’d like to discuss appeared in his initial potties! 😳 But there’s a silver lining! Hero has the sweetest heart and gets along wonderfully with the doggos in his foster home. He’s housebroken (yay!) but will need a physical fenced yard as a precaution since he has experienced life as a stray. Hero came to us just before Thanksgiving, and we are all eagerly counting down to his ‘after’ transformation, which we anticipate will take about 4 months.
