About Millie
Millie is a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees who weighs about 85 pounds. She landed in a Texas shelter with a litter of puppies and eventually found her way north to Michigan. Her early days in foster care were spent decompressing and learning the rhythms of home life—slow introductions to resident dogs helped her feel safe. Millie is sweet, gentle, and calm, though she does have that classic Pyr independence and prefers to do things her own way. She gets along with smaller dogs but will thrive as the only dog in a household. With cats, her interest is mild and she hasn’t shown any urge to chase. Millie has shown mild food guarding, but no aggression outside of mealtimes; her foster can share what works for managing this. She’s shown herself to be attentive to a calm, firm voice and benefits from gentle redirection. Millie isn't bothered by regular household chaos; her foster family thinks she’d do well with kids of any age—the youngest in her current home is 10. A securely fenced yard or invisible fence is important for Millie. She uses an invisible fence reliably. Typical of her breed, she may bark at sounds, alerting to things outside but without being constantly loud. Millie knows basic commands, enjoys belly rubs, and will nudge you for attention with a paw. She’s affectionate, loyal, and will make a wonderful addition for a family ready for a loyal companion.
