About Millie
They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now! Millie is a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees weighing about 85 pounds, with a beautiful white and cream coat. Not much is known about her earlier days, except that she arrived at a Texas shelter with her puppies before making the long trip north to Michigan where she's enjoying her second chance. She has settled into her foster home, showing herself as a sweet, calm, and gentle companion who needs slow, thoughtful introductions to other dogs. Millie is most comfortable with smaller dogs but would thrive as an only pet. Curious but polite with cats, Millie has not shown any chase instinct and is well-mannered around them. She has demonstrated some mild food guarding, which her foster has successfully managed, and there have been no aggression issues outside of mealtime. As a true Great Pyrenees, she is independent and prefers to do things her way, but she listens well to a calm, confident approach and gentle redirection. Millie would love a family with adults or older kids; her foster thinks she could do well with younger children, but the youngest she's met is ten. A large, secure yard is top of her wish list, as she respects both traditional and invisible fencing—ideal for a guardian breed. True to her heritage, Millie will bark at unfamiliar noises to keep her family safe, but she isn't excessively vocal. She already knows how to sit, happily accepts belly rubs, and gently offers a paw for your attention. With her affectionate spirit and loyal heart, Millie will make a wonderful addition to the right household. As a Virgo (born September 10), Millie brings calm reliability and a gentle, observant nature to her interactions. If you're looking for a loving protector and a steady presence, Millie is ready to meet you and settle into her forever home. Your new best friend is just one click away.
