About Cody
What are you waiting for? Apply today! Cody is a bright, loyal Border Collie/Australian Cattle Dog mix who is nearly five years old and weighs approximately 38 lbs. His obedience training shines through—he knows sit, down, come, stay, place, and even spin! Cody is housebroken, crate trained, and trustworthy when left alone at home. True to his breed mix, Cody is very active and thrives with an owner eager to engage in games, training, and long walks. He gets along well with other dogs and could be an ideal canine companion in an active household with a fenced yard for exploring. Cody can be anxious around unfamiliar people and may nip if overwhelmed, so he needs a strong, confident handler who can provide clear direction and help him manage introductions calmly. Consistent routines, positive reinforcement, and ongoing training are key to his happiness, especially in a home free from chaos and with adults or older teens rather than young children. A behaviorist has confirmed that Cody is not aggressive—just sensitive and in need of a home that understands how to manage energy and anxiety. Cody is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and fully vaccinated, making him ready for adoption. Offer treats, let him approach new people on his terms, and you’ll discover a devoted, goofy, and smart lifelong friend. Give him structure and time, and he'll become the best companion you could ask for. Make their next chapter their best one yet.

Questions about Cody
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Border Collie/Australian Cattle Dog mixes are best suited for active homes with plenty of structure and opportunities for both physical exercise and mental stimulation. They thrive in environments where they have a job to do and space to roam.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
This breed benefits from having access to a secure, fenced yard and regular outdoor time. They require ample space to run, play, and explore in order to burn off their high energy.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
While these breeds can be great family dogs, their herding instincts and sensitivity mean they often do best in homes with older children or adults who understand their needs, as they can be overwhelmed by very young or rambunctious children.
