About Tina

Tina is an 11-year-old Chihuahua/Mini Pinscher mix who has lived most of her life as a confident and tenacious little companion. Found stray and brought into rescue in Dallas back in 2019, Tina found a loving adopter, but life changes now mean she’s again searching for her next devoted person. Diagnosed with diabetes in 2020, Tina takes her insulin shots twice a day after meals—she honestly doesn’t even flinch and seems to know they’re helping her feel her best. This small senior is fully house trained and crate trained, preferring to spend her nights snuggled inside her own crate. She’s currently a bit overweight at 10.5 lbs. Tina gets along nicely with other small dogs and tolerates bigger dogs as long as they keep their distance. Loud noises and strangers bring out her inner guard dog; she’ll bark to let you know someone’s at the door and takes her job protecting her family quite seriously. Once she warms up, you’ll find she is loving and forms strong bonds with her main caregiver, pursuing them to be close whenever she can. While Tina enjoys gentle company, she does best with kids old enough to understand how to interact with a small, older dog. Favorite activities include cuddling in a chair, meal and snack times, soaking up the sun, occasional squirrel chases, and walks through her neighborhood. Riding in the car isn't her thing, but keeping her world predictable suits Tina best. Her current owner will provide several months’ worth of insulin, syringes, and food to help her transition.
