Marvin is a 2-year-old, medium-sized Golden Retriever/Husky mix who came from an overcrowded California shelter after his owner was no longer able to care for him. This bright, goofy dog is looking for a fresh start and a committed home where he'll get the consistency and love he truly deserves. Smart and eager to please, Marvin bonds quickly to his people. He goes from playful bursts—romping around the yard, chasing after his favorite toy—to settling down for a quiet nap beside you. He’s food motivated, gentle with treats, and never guardy. Around people, Marvin is affectionate and attentive, but he’s still working through his confidence around other dogs. He can be reactive or wary at first, so he’ll do best as the only dog in a home with adopters willing to commit to patient, positive training and slow introductions if any visiting dogs are in the mix. City life and apartments are not a fit for Marvin. He needs a free-standing home with a securely fenced backyard and a support system of multiple people to help him manage his mild separation anxiety and to continue working on being comfortable alone. Marvin sleeps calmly through the night and reliably waits for your cue in the morning. He’s house-trained, listens well to simple corrections, and is pretty good about avoiding the countertop buffet if reminded. This isn’t your average Golden Retriever temperament.
